Character A Day Wrap-Up

Whew!  Drawing everyday is challenging enough, especially when it's not my full-time job, but drawing a character everyday is darn near exhausting!  I know I wasn't able to post for 31 consecutive days, but I assure I drew at least one new character a day for the entire month of May.

So, my faithful followers, I give you the final days of my "Character A Day for May" attempt.  I hope you like.  Enjoy...

Day 26, Spider-crab!!

Day 27, THE Sketch Hound

Day 28, Evil, sinistery, king-guy

Day 29, Ker' uak's space buddy- Salinger

Day 30, Jing.  She's got a killer round house.

Day 31, Yeung.  He may be small.  He may be short.  But he's definitely one tough hero.

Fun With Colors!

Just some color studies for a few main characters from Nathan's Story.  Hope you like.
(Frome L to R: Nathan, Gretchen, and George "The Bully")

In the Mean Time...

Sorry, my faithful followers.  I have been behind the eight ball with posting my daily characters.

Here's something while you wait....  Hope you like 'em.

Day 19, Character Nineteen

This just another pose of Ker`uak.  He is running to someplace, or from something, with some urgency.

Day 16 & 17, Character Sixteen & Seventeen

Here's an intergalactic dude with some serious attitude for pointing a ray gun into empty space.  I shall call him, Ker`uak

This is some dude who has powers over fire... I think.

Colored Characters

So only got through 4 of 15 characters this weekend.  I know, I'm slacking.  I didn't even get these to a finished look.  These are more like color studies, if you will.  Do not fret, dear followers, I will have them to a completed look soon.  Stay 'tooned.

VD 001

Who's got your back?

I really like what's been started, but so much more needs to be done for this to be considered finished.  Spent about 45 minutes messing around.  Not as efficient at digital painting as most of my peers.  The more I practice, the better I'll become at completing a digital illustration in under 2 hours.

Electronic Arts University (EAU) design work

During my brief time with EA I was given the responsibility of coming up with a fresh, new design for their employee survey "TalkBack".  My idea was to give it the theme of a 1970's disc jockey radio show.  I came up with the color scheme, some mock-up graphics and a PowerPoint presentation.  Unfortunately they thought it was "too much" for such a simple survey.  Ah, well.

These are some stakeholder icons I created as part of EAU's stakeholder documents.  I used these, and other icons, to help develop an employee training flash-card based game.

Sample Sanctuary Pages

I love every single page illustrated by Stephen Coughlin.  I also love every single page I've digitally painted as a Digital Artist.  Here is just a sample of a five page spread.

To give you an idea of what I work with, here is a "Before" and "After" sample.

Before (already awesome)                 After (hopefully still awesome)

Sanctuary Covers

I did the digital painting for entire six-issue series of Sanctuary, a graphic novel written and illustrated by Stephen Coughlin.  It'll be released in August of 2011, first at the iTunes store then online at comixology.com, and finally a hardcover anthology of all six issues.

Day 14, Character 14 (2 of 'em)

Was able to draw two characters for "Fallen Kingdom".  Not too happy with the gesture of the one on the right.  It's a lil' too stiff and not enough personality.

Working on the colored versions of all previous Character-A-Day posts tonight.  Tomorrow should have some fun work to share.  Stay 'tooned.

Days 11, 12 and 13, Characters Eleven, Twelve, and Thirteen

So Blogger has been acting up on me these past couple days.  Finally I am able to post.  I'm sorry, dear followers, for being away for so long.  All of these preceding characters are from my story-arc "Fallen Kingdom."  Enjoy.
 Day 13, Character Thirteen
Kimi and keeps a close eye on her younger broter, Kana.  Someone should do the same for her.

 Day 12, Character 12
Don't let his name fool you– Kruun is no softy, and makes his presence known.

Day 11, Character Eleven
One of worst bad guys around, Pyper, is a creature who is not to be reckoned with.

Day 10, Character Ten

No story would be complete without the baddies.  This guy is one of the baddest around.  He'll kill your children, then make you watch him eat them before he devours you... alive.

Day 9, Character Nine

Alrighty.  Here is Cobb, or what's left of him.  After "The Great Fall" there wasn't much to Cobb remaining, save his heart, bone structure, and some muscle.  His soul couldn't be saved.

And come back this weekend.  The plan is to post colored versions of all of my daily characters up to May 15 by 23:59 hrs Pacific-time, Sunday night!  Yay-uh!  It's gonna be good.

Day 7 & 8, Characters Seven and Eight

I know.  I technically missed a day of posting, but that doesn't mean I didn't draw.  Here is another rendition of Raucous, followed by a giant, frustrated, artist character.  Hope you like.

Oh, and Happy Mother's Day to all you mommies out there!

Day 6, Character Six

This is Gru.  He may not be one hundred percent human, but he's 100% bad-ass.  You want this guy on your side.  Period. (btw, horrible photograph. this i know.  promise to rectify this)
